obsessions

infatuation junkie

there's nothing former about it
  • the love poetry...i make no claims about quality by the way...you've been warned.

  • Love Sonnets by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
This collection contains Sonnets from the Portuguese and some of her earlier works. I just can't get enough of it.

  • And then there's my writing efforts. I wrote a couple of articles for my former employer's newsletter. One is on game consoles and the other is about being trapped in the buildings elevator.

  • I finally broke down and bought a digital camera and well this is what I've done with it.

current obsessions

yes, i'm obsessive...if only i was also compulsive maybe i could get even more done.

  • Robotics has caught my fancy these days. I probably watched too much of those battle robot shows. I bought and assembled the BYO Robot kit. It was pretty easy to put together. It comes with pre-programmed actions but you can program it's actions if you add a Parallax BASIC Stamp 2 microcontroller. Of course since I'm more for software than hardware, I gotta get me one of those.

  • coding the web
I'm very interested in usability these days. I recently bought and read Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug. A great read and highly recommended!
I'm also trying out the .Net thing. I've been working on a test site using the ASP.NET Web Matrix software. It's been interesting.

  • linux
After having installed Debian on a laptop and Caldera on a Pentium, I'm now attempting an install of RedHat. The gods were not smiling on this endeavour! Aargh! I did finally get it up and running and it's cool. I'm dual booting it with W2K and WXP. Triple booting? Multi-booting! Whoo!

  • i really should try to finish one of these rpg's but i'm easily distracted.
final fantasy: I'm finally catching up on my final fantasy games. I still have ff8 and ff10 to play. I bought the PS1 so I could play ff7 and I plan to buy a PS2 so I can play ff10.
baldur's gate: This is the first of the series of AD & D games based loosely on R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt books. My brother got me the next evolution of the games the Icewind Dale collection. I don't know when I'm going to play that since I got caught up in Disciples II. I think this officially makes me a game dabbler and not a game player.
